Publisher's Description:

MITCalc - Beam Calculation - The application is designed for calculations of straight, maximum three times static indefinite beams with constant

axis-symmetrical profiles. Application is developed in MS Excel, is multi-language, supports Imperial and Metric units

and solves the following main tasks:

- Simple definition of the type of beam and its loading with visual check.

- Calculation of area characteristics of 20 types of cross sections.

- Calculation of reactions in supports.

- Calculation of minimum / maximum bending moment, stress and deflection of the beam.

- Calculation and graphic illustration of the moment, stress, deflection and bending angle of the loaded beam.

The application includes a table of materials and a table of area characteristics of W, S, C, L profiles acc. to

ANSI/AISC and I, U, L a T profiles acc. to DIN/ISO.

Used standards: DIN 1025, 1026, 1028, 1029, 1024, AISC W, S, C, L, LUThis module is a part of MITCalc -

Mechanical and Technical Calculation Package for gear, belt and chain drives, springs, beam, shaft, bolt

connection, shaft connection, tolerances and many others

Very easy and user friendly little program for all kinds of simple construstions. Just what you need when things are straight forword and you just want to be on the safe side or find the most economical solution.

This is a good software package. I quite like it. It makes beam sizing very simple and it allows quick checking with other shapes and sizes to maximize economy.

Some of the help is a little hard to understand--I think it may have been originally written in another language.

What little I have used of it so far I really like it . It does exactly what I was looking for.

I-Beam Calculation

I have a specific question about how to use the product to calculate the bending load for an I-Beam. Please allow me a day to compose a message, which describes what I'm trying to do.

MITCalc Review

I like the software, the interface could be a bit easier to use, but solving virtually any type of beam equation is fairly straightforward and the software has quite a bit of flexibility allowing easy modeling of indeterminite beams.

Some complaints would be that the bending moment is displayed in ft-lbs not in-lbs which would match the designated units. To enter custom moment of inertia's and areas is not intuitive and the rectangular tube shape omits fillets so it doesn't match the book values for structural members.

Other than those very minor issues, the software is fantastic overall and relatively simple once you understand the sequence. It is suggested that you mimic some book examples to fully understand the results but after that you will be off and running.
